Freebanding

Freebanding is basically 'out of band' operation in the 27MHz CB region. Freebanding represents all frequencies below, inbetween & above the internationally recognised standard 40 channel allocation. This basically includes from 26MHz through 27MHz up to 28.000MHz. The 28MHz region is allocated as the 10m amateur radio band & below 26MHz are more amateur bands and also commercial services. These frequencies for example incorporate inbetween frequencies such as channels: The above listed frequencies are of course not just un-utilised. Below are some known uses:
These uses are generally in FM and of low power. As long as freebanders avoid using these in particular then they wont disrupt allocated commercial usage and therefore have less chance of getting in trouble for operating out of band. Freebanding also includes operators using modes aside from AM/SSB. Freebanders will also use FM and others.

However, if you really are an enthusiast, and technicially inclined then why not just study for your HAM Radio licence and explore the real world of radio communications. For more information click here
Disclaimer: I do not encourage the operation out of band. It is illegal and out of band operation can interfere with several other services. The author of this web page will be in NO WAY held responsible for actions taken by readers.
